IRES - 2002 Seminar Highlights

The recent IRES Career Development Seminar marked the Society's 15th anniversary, and as usual, the hundreds of attendees came away refreshed, renewed and professional developed. If you missed it, plan now to be in Scottsdale for the '03 CDS!

Despite the attractions of the Riverwalk, right outside the door of the hotel (left, the view out the window in back of the IRES registration desk), the nearly 500 attendees filled meeting rooms for the myriad session (including the Round Robin session below).

The opening Commissioners Roundtable – featuring Iowa's Therese Vaughan (current NAIC president, at left in the photo), José Montemayor of Texas, Oregon's Joel Ario and Ohio commissioner Lee Covington – was exceptionally entertaining and informative.
Later in the day, Vaughan gave a stimulating keynote address, and then all the visiting commissioners say down for an in-depth interview for publication in The Regulator.

Other highlights of the CDS were presentation of the Al Greer Award to Shirley Robertson of Nevada (pictured with her husband Mac and presenter Scott Laird) . . .

. . . the passing of the gavel from Jann Goodpaster, CIE, of Oregon to Paul Bicica, CIE, of Vermont – plus the annual Board meeting . . .

. . . presentation of the Schrader-Nelson Award for best article in The Regulator to Birny Birnbaum on behalf of Robert Hunter, and of of the President's Award to Susan Morrison the IRES staff . . .

. . . and recognition of those who earned their AIE or CIE designation during the previous year.
